Letter # 1009 16 year old understands need for education Letter #1009
My name is Jorge and I live in Santa Rosa.
I am writing to you today because my family has a problem. My father is the only one that works a full time job and it is always difficult to make it through weeks without being in need for money. My mother is a stay at home mother and tries her best to get us whatever we need, whether it’s food, clothes, or something to pass time by. She doesn’t drive and it’s always been a struggle for us going to school.
I have 2 younger brothers that are 11 and 7. They’re both in elementary and I’m currently 16 and a junior at Roseland University Prep. Since I can remember I’ve always had to walk to school. Looking back at it I realize that is has been a struggle and it’s a struggle that my younger brothers are going to go through as well.
My father goes into work early so there is no way of transportation. As I have been progressing in school I have seen technology make an impact on my education. A lot of my assignments are now through the computer and it is hard for us because we don’t have a PC.
If it is hard for me now I can already imagine how hard it is going to be for my younger brothers. As they progress in school they’re going to be in need in of a computer. Since money is so tight we can’t afford to buy a home computer and because money is so tight we struggle with getting clothes and food. We somehow manage to survive but it hasn’t been easy.
I’m writing this letter to help support my family. Although I’m only 16 years old I am always looking for opportunities to take my family forward.
We are wishing that Secret Santa can help us out by granting this wish.
We hope to receive a home computer from our secret santa. I know how expensive they are, but they are very essential in our time. Clothes are needed and especially for our family. My parents and I are understanding of our situation, but for my brothers it is sometimes difficult.
They only have a pair of shoes each and they use them up until there are holes in them. Since we walk to school we are constantly using our shoes and we wear them out until we realize that they just can’t be used anymore. Same goes for jackets and pants. Winter is right around the corner and I really don’t want them to be walking in the morning to school in the cold.
If we were able to get this help from Secret Santa it would help. Having a computer would help my brothers and I complete our assignments from school. I’m currently a junior and I’m constantly getting assigned essays to type or math assignments. Throughout middle school I began to realize that a computer was really being needed. My brother is about to enter middle school and I don’t want him to go through the same struggle I had to go through. We would also like to ask for clothes. During the winter it is difficult because we have to use the thin sweaters or jackets we had for the beginning of summer. I have been taking the same jacket to school since I was a sophomore and I’m a junior now. I’m beginning to feel insecure about people noticing that I wear the same jacket to school.
Thank you very much and I wish you the best for the holiday season.
